Happy Valentine's Day!
After driving Daddy to work with Mommy and Charlotte, Malachi came out of the car reluctantly, because he wanted to keep driving until he got to his friends’ house, and get out there. What he didn’t know was that his friends were coming to his house. His Mommy tried to explain this to him several times, and in several different ways. Still, he cried and followed her around the house, insisting that she should bring him to his friends house right away. After Mommy threatened a couple of times to put him in bed if he didn’t quit crying about it, he changed the subject:
“Cheerios!”
“We’re out of Cheerios, but you can have Kix!”
“No, Cheerios!”
“We’re out of Cheerios. See?” (Hands him the empty bag he just finished off the same morning.)
“Cheerios! Yay!”
“The Cheerios bag is empty, see? There’s nothing in it.” (Reaches his hand in.) “But we have Kix and they’re yummy too. You can have some of those.” (Mommy looks in the cupboard.)
“No! Wants a apple juice!” (Pointing to the open cupboard.)
“Oh my goodness. We don’t have apple juice either.” (Puzzled, having never kept anything yielding apple juice in the cupboard. Except maybe cups.)
“Cheerios!” (Finds the bowl of milk on the table with a few soggy Cheerios in it from breakfast, and tries to spoon some milk from that bowl into the Cheerios bag he is still holding. Mommy intercepts the spoon.)
“O.K. You can have those.” (Puts baby Charlotte down and puts him into his booster seat.)
He picks out every last Cheerio with his fingers as Mommy gets ready for her next move. She brings the new box of Kix over and opens it next to him.
“Do you want some of these?” (Pours him a bowl full at the first sign of assent.)
He begins eating immediately. Mommy sits down to type a little blog about her experience until she no longer feels like smacking his overtired, ungrateful, little tracero.
“Candy!”
(Oy-vay!)
